Description:

Assesses the full range of care needs and develops, implements and evaluates programmes of care throughout the ante-natal, intra-partum and post-natal period for women and their babies

Job Summary

 • Provides a full range of health education and social care advice to women in a range of settings pre-conceptually, antenatally and postnatally.

 • Acts as a mentor for less experienced midwives and other staff

• Works autonomously within NMC midwives rules & standards, other NMC guidelines, statutory supervision and spheres of professional practice

 

Education/ Qualifications

• RM Registered Midwife, active NMC registration

• Evidence of continued professional development (by an up to date personal professional portfolio).

• Must have undertaken a minimum of 35 hours of learning activity relevant to her/his practice during the 3

years period prior to the renewal of registration

• Adult and neonatal resuscitation training and training/skills drills in obstetric emergencies

 

Experience

Must have successfully completed a 12 month foundation gateway Current (within last 6 months) evidence based practice, Evidence of applying current research to practice, Provision of midwifery care to women with normal and complicated pregnancies
