Service Users:

Patients in the community – in the home, in clinics and in intermediate care settings

 

Job Summary

- Undertakes a range of delegated clinical patient care duties assists with the implementation of individual care programmes and may provide personal and nursing care for patients in the community - within the home, in clinics or in intermediate care settings. These duties may include:

Bathing, washing, shaving and oral hygiene ; Toilet and continence requirements

Medication requirements, general patient observations and other health related activities

Moving and handling

Eating and meals

Handling personal possessions and documents

- Works within an interdisciplinary team to deliver quality care with an emphasis on promoting independence and rehabilitation as well as curative and palliative care.

- Assists qualified staff in delivering care. May work alone but will work as directed by the patient’s care plan and under the direction of a Senior Community Nurse or Team Leader

 

Training / Qualifications / Knowledge

All newly appointed / registered workers (within last 2 years) - NVQ level 2 in Care AND  working towards NVQ level 3 (registered for the NVQ in Care award within 6 months of registering with the agency) OR Knowledge of and competence in personal care and domestic procedures acquired through experience, NVQ level 3 equivalent

 

Desirable Criteria: NVQ Level 3

 

Experience

Proven experience of working with people in a mental health setting at band 3 level or equivalent

  

Skills, Abilities, Knowledge and understanding about the above position will be asked at interviews
