Nurse (Children and Families - Community). Band 5
Service Users:
Children and families in the community.
Job Summary
Works within an interdisciplinary team to promote health and to deliver high quality care and services for children and families within the local community (including schools) in collaboration with other external agencies / organisations. Duties may include :
• Carrying out immunisation programmes for school age children
• Undertaking health assessments, health needs profiling, screening and any necessary follow up action
• Undertaking health education work with school age children
• Assessing, planning and implementation of care for children at home.
• Providing advice and maintaining associated records
• Carrying out nursing procedures
• May provide clinical supervision to other staff, students
Depending on the nature of role as specified at the start of the assignment, the nurse may report to the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - Health Visiting or School Nursing. Works within codes of practice and professional guidelines.
Training / Qualifications / Knowledge
Registered on the appropriate part of the NMC register for the assignment RN (Child) / RN8 OR RN1 or RN2 Registered Nurse
Desirable Criteria: Teaching & assessing qualification
Experience
Current (within last 6 months) evidence based practice within a primary care field appropriate to the assignment. 12 months post registration experience in paediatric nursing.
