Nurse (Learning Disabilities - Community) Band 5
Service Users:
Service Users with learning disabilities.
Job Summary
• Assesses care needs, implements and monitors care plans, administers medication and provides advice for patients/ clients with Learning Disabilities.
• Carries out nursing procedures to support and care for clients with Learning Disability
• Provides clinical supervision to other staff, students
• Provides individual support for people with learning disability to enable them to live in the community and make their own choices
• Works within an interdisciplinary team to deliver quality care .with an emphasis on promoting independence
Training / Qualifications / Knowledge
Registered on the appropriate part of the NMC register for the assignment. RN (Learning Disabilities) RN5, RN6
Desirable Criteria: Teaching & assessing qualification
Experience
Current (within last 6 months) evidence based practice caring for people with Learning Disabilities in a health care setting appropriate to the assignment. If newly qualified (within the last year) - evidence that a preceptorship programme has been completed successfully.
Skills, Abilities, Knowledge and understanding about the above position will be asked at interviews
