Nurse Team Leader / Nurse Specialist (Learning Disabilities – Community). Band 6
Service Users:
Service Users with learning disabilities.
Job Summary
• Assesses care needs, implements and monitors care plans, administers medication and provides advice in specialist areas for patients/ clients with Learning Disabilities.
• Forms a supportive relationship with Learning Disability Clients to facilitate care
• Initiates and promotes practice development
• Supervises and allocates staff, co-ordinates staff duty rotas, clinical leadership, may manage staff in absence of team manager.
• Carries out nursing procedures to support and care for clients with Learning Disability
• Provides clinical supervision to other staff, students
• Works within an interdisciplinary team to deliver quality care .with an emphasis on promoting independence
Training / Qualifications / Knowledge
Registered on the appropriate part of the NMC register for the assignment RN (Learning Disabilities) RN5, RN6. Relevant diploma level specialist training, or equivalent, as required for the assignment Evidence of professional updating.
Desirable Criteria: Teaching & assessing qualification
Experience:
Minimum of two years post registration experience At least 1 year (within last 6 months) evidence based practice caring for people with Learning Disabilities in a health care setting appropriate to the field of the assignment.
