Prisons Nurse Team Leader / Nurse Specialist . Band 6
Service Users:
People in prison and other secure settings
Job Summary:
Responsible for the delivery of care to prisoners who require nursing support within a range of healthcare activities. These may include Outpatients, Inpatients, Primary Care and Chronic Disease Management, Mental Health Services, Substance Misuse Services etc
• Assesses patients, plans and implements care in prison
• Provides skilled, professional assessment of health needs, relevant nursing care and health information
• Provides advice and maintains associated records
• Carries out nursing procedures
• May provide clinical supervision to other staff, students
• Provides clinical leadership to the nursing team and co-ordinates nursing team work loads
• Provides induction training, clinical supervision
• Works within an interdisciplinary team to deliver quality care with an emphasis on promoting independence and rehabilitation as well as curative care.
Training / Qualifications / Knowledge:
Registered on the appropriate part of the NMC register for the assignment RN (Adult) / RN1/ RN2 OR RN (Mental Health ) RN3, RN4. Relevant diploma level specialist training or equivalent as required by the Authority for the assignment. Evidence of professional updating.
Experience:
Minimum of two years post registration experience At least 1 year (within last 6 months) evidence based practice caring for people in prison in a health care setting appropriate to the field of the assignment.
